Kenn Pierog "Little Kenny" began his musical career at age 3, when his
father, also a musician, introduced him to the accordion. Hearing no rock n' roll
songs that featured the accordion, Kenny rejected the instrument and began to study guitar
at 8 and drums at 10. Adopting a "do it all myself" attitude, he began working
professionally at age 13, singing and playing drums in wedding bands, all the while
playing guitar and bass in neighborhood garage bands. While still in his teens, Kenn
started writing songs for his band and others' to perform, and began to give guitar and
drum lessons to neighborhood kids, which later turned into a full-time job. During his
college years, Kenn met Bill Drobile, who unknowingly became his musical mentor and
"taught me a shitload about harmony and theory". Kenn was inspired to explore
new directions in his own music, resulting in many hours of fresh, original recordings. Bill and Kenn played in several bands together over the years, leading up to the formation of Earthrise. By this time Kenn was establishing himself as a studio musician, playing guitar, bass, drums and singing background vocals for many local recording sessions. He was also working professionally as a graphic artist, an occupation that would consume more of his time as he matured.
